Lynden has studied glass extensively and has a background in jewellery and sculpture which contributes to his unique style.
“I work with glass in its hot molten state, I love the fluidity and movement it allows. My inspiration is the natural environment, the spaces beyond our Earth.
I have been working in the field of glass art since my training at Northland Polytechnic where I studied under Keith Mahy to gain my Diploma in Applied Art (1996-1998). Since then I have worked with many of New Zealand’s glass artists in a number of capacities and have worked at developing and expanding my own glass business. I make a range of functional ware, decorative items and sculptural pieces which can be found in most of New Zealand’s top galleries from Te Papa to Auckland Museum and some prestigious galleries in Australia.
In 2003 I built and established my own glass blowing workshop and gallery at Taupo, NZ, Lava Glass, making all the tools kilns and furnaces. Having my own studio gives me freedom to develop and experiment with many aspects of hot glass, which I continue to do on a daily basis.
