David Guccione is a local Tauranga Artist who has turned his passion for studying aquatic life into copper sculpture. He grew up camping and fishing the rivers and waterways around his home, became a commercial fisherman and
then went on to earn a Masters degree in marine biology.
The artwork you see here has been shaped completely by hand using a wide variety of tools, many of which have been created by the artist. The colouration comes only from the application of heat to the copper.
With proper care, these pieces could last hundreds of years in even an outside environment. The possibilities for copper sculpture are limitless and commissions are encouraged.
