Jenny Cook-Battersby

Jenny Cook-Battersby works fulltime as an artist from her home studio. .

Since early childhood Jenny has been driven to create works of art. She says her commitment and passion has never diminished.

Jenny gained university entrance and has develop her skills and technique through a series of private lessons from other artists that she holds in high regard. She has also attended numerous workshops run by a variety of artists. She says of her own approach to work ?every brush stroke is a challenge?. She believes that creating comes not only from your head, but largely from your heart.

Light and dark, colour and texture, form and composition are her focus. Jenny originally spent many years as a watercolour artist and enjoyed the challenge of that medium.

However she was continually pushing the boundaries, this lead her to move in the direction of acrylic and oil painting. Jenny enjoys the increased depth, diversity and texture that acrylic, oils and other mediums bring her work.

Jenny has painted a variety of subjects including cityscapes, buildings, still life, boats, figures and seascapes. However her greatest passion is the New Zealand landscape. She enjoys travelling around the North and South island, gathering inspiration and information for her paintings. She feels ?plein air painting? (painting outdoors) would be one of the most fulfilling experiences and artist can have.

Jenny exhibits regularly in the central North Island region. She sells her paintings privately and through Galleries. Many of her works are held in private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, England and Sweden.
