There’s a conspiracy theory that ‘Glennz’ - prolific winning designer on Threadless.com’s T-shirt design competition - is a robot, or at the very least a team of people working under the one moniker. But the truth is that Glennz is the online alter ego of Glenn Jones, Auckland based designer and illustrator.
In just a few short years, Chicago based company Threadless has mushroomed into a US$20 million turnover business shipping 80,000 tees a month. Glenn is currently the highest selling designer on the site. An online celebrity in his own right now, Jones is often contacted by US journalists for interview and comment about Threadless’s success.
After working 15 years in the design industry here and abroad, Glenn recently left his role as a creative director at an Auckland design studio, to concentrate on his own projects which include art print, greeting cards and now his own T-shirt range.
