Gary Tricker was born in Wellington in 1938, and is self-taught. Gary works mainly with etching and Aquatint on copperplate and at times oils and watercolour . He creates figurative compositions with a whimsical element to them, along with semi-abstract landscapes
Gary has been working as an artist fulltime since 1976, after working as a public servant for 18 years.
He moved from Korokoro, Petone to Greytown, Wairarapa in 1980. Gary has exhibited widely, with invitations to twelve International Biennials in the 70’s. he received Arts Council Grants in 1`965 and 1975.
